10 Years Jury Weikendorf

In 2007, the small Weinviertel community received an extraordinary work of art that laid the foundation for this year's anniversary: the artist Michael Kienzer conceived a project under the name Kunstraum Weikendorf that interweaves public and exhibition space. The former arsenal of the local fire department, next to the town hall, became an art space that can be viewed from the outside, and since then shows twice a year projects that are developed especially for this place.

In 2013, initiated by the cultural mediators Bärbel Zechner and Gabriele Stöger, the local population was invited to actively participate in shaping the exhibition program as a jury under the title "Multiple Choice". With the support of the Jury Weikendorf, 20 exhibitions have already been accompanied and implemented since then. The voluntary commitment of this jury exemplifies the importance of local people who participate in such processes and support and carry forward the communication about contemporary art.

10 years of Jury Weikendorf is a welcome occasion to celebrate the commitment to this place and to contemporary art, as well as to reflect on its perception by the local population and the region and to talk about potentials as well as challenges. The celebration, which will be held together with the opening of the exhibition of Robert Gabris and Theodor Moise, will start the dialogue during a roundtable discussion, which will be continued with personal conversations!

3.30 p.m. Roundtable: 10 years of Weikendorf jury: one room, lots of art, commitment and talking points!

Siglinde Lang, cultural scientist (Büro für künstlerisch-wissenschaftliche Praxis), will reflect on this unique art project and the commitment of the local people in conversation with the Weikendorf Jury, the initiators, the municipality, KOERNOE, the Kultur.Region.NÖ, artists and the audience, as well as looking to the future.

Musically the day is accompanied by: HeDu!PaCha!

The artist Edith Payer has developed a poster series for "10 Years Jury Weikendorf", which will be on display from mid-September to October in the public space of Weikendorf and the surrounding area.
