The theme for the design of the chapel is taken from the New Testament, "The Circumcision and Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, Simeon and Hanna", where older people find solice and power through an encounter with Christ. The Tree of Life, for instance, is a recurring defining element in the design of the tabernacle, altar, ambo and priest's seat. At the altar, ambo and priest's seat the supporting elements are of bronze, and the supported elements are of pear wood. The tabernacle (2.4m high and 60cm deep) and the Processional Cross are cast in bronze.
