Bus and Info Box

Information

The box is constructed out of section tubes, spacers and flat bar steel to carry the glass form an overall support system. The side serves as an "information carrier" with a map and brief history of the town. In the "inner shell", translucent stainless metal nets serve as a sunshade on the ceiling, but also form the bench and its back wall.

Construction: Section tubes, spacers and flat bar steel to carry the glass form an overall support system - the height of the spacers corresponds to the static stress at the respective site (a higher distance between girders and flat steel in the area of curvature to absorb the flexion moment, lower overall girder height around straight ends). The girders' partition in the vertical area and their V-shaped arrangement produce a spatial column base so that a rigid fixation of the girders is not required. This makes foundation work easier and also permits the construction of elegant base points. In the "outer shell" (glazing), the back wall and the roof consist of clear safety glass, mounted lengthwise, with horizontal cross joints (no section covers) and stainless metal clamp ledges, with curved glass elements between the back wall and the roof. The side glazing on the (western) weather side serves as an "information carrier" with a map and brief history of the town; the panes are mounted along the roof girder with ground rails and single-spot fixtures. In the "inner shell", translucent stainless metal nets (woven from wires in a textile-like fashion) are mounted into the construction as prefabricated elements, constituting a second layer which not only serves as a protection against glass falling off and as a sunshade on the ceiling (sky), but also forms the bench and its back wall.
