Information
The spectacular wall mural covers all of the walls and ceiling in a stairwell at the Donau-Universität Krems. In a highly productive cooperation Peter Kogler und Marcus Geiger produced a multicoloured all-over wallpaper with a pattern consisting of biomorphous shapes.
The spectacular outfit of a stairwell at the Danube University in Krems was the product of a year-long, highly productive collaboration of two artists: Peter Kogler, anchor man of the computer-generated logo and Marcus Geiger, by calling a wizard of colour. A bulb motif in sweet candy colours sweeps up the staircase, cutting capers in bright colours. The individual motif multiplies, burgeoning into an overall wallpaper. The tedious climb of the stairs becomes a pleasurable rollercoaster ride up various floors. As unmatched team workers Kogler/Geiger have been actively deconstructing the artful aspects of art. Machine counters handwriting, technology the aura. With striking moves, Kogler/Geiger subvert our ideas of the master piece of museum standard. The laconic modules are prostheses for mobilizing the gaze, the rich colouring make the biomorphic shape even more interesting. A joint project based on partnership breaks with the calamitous notion of the artist as solitary genius. Submission elegantly yields to integration, assimilation and participation. The creative pluralism has a positive effect on the environs and the environment. Here in Krems one doesn’t mind climbing up stairs again.
