Information

Willi Kopf designed in Brunnkirchen near Krems the square with two square shaped stone basins.
The surface of the reduced granite design absorbs the smoothness of the water surfaces and carries them on.

The concept for the fountain on the village square in Brunnkirchen near Krems is the result of a unique preocupation with the theme of water both in formal and conceptual terms. Two square shaped stone basins on supports facing each other on a longitudinal axis function as water receptacles. At the same time the surface of the water is in keeping with he artist's idea of a metaphorical mirror function of the various fountain installations that have been repeatedly documented in the history of the village. One of Willi Kopf's special interests was the optically precision in the proportions between the individual building elements. It corresponds to the fact that parts of the fountain tilt toward the incline in the terrain on both sides. The square was paved with granite in a grid structure laid out over the entire surface of the square. The smooth water surfaces were incorporated and further developed in the stringent, reduced design of the square. The axial orientation of the square and the bushes and trees planted on both sides of the square have resulted in a stage-like recreational space.
