Information

The facade design of faience panels with enamel painting shows a scene from the life of Saint Severin set in the Danube region. Illusionary volume and space are largely avoided for the benefit of the sign language. The proportions are determined by the person's relative importance. The Project is no longer on view.

The composition is based on a disciplined, reduced play of lines which derives its main impact from the few, stylized folds in the clothing. The gestural idiom is additionally brought out by the general renunciation of the illusion of body and spatiality. The backdrop of the Danubian landscape is characterized by the blue wave forms. The dimensions are more governed by the significance and weight than by the natural figure. For this reason, the figure of the saint is largest and the scenes from his life smaller.
