Information
The altarpiece of 24 wooden panels shows the salvific history. The Cross of Redemption in the centre links the Old and the New Testaments. The wooden panels with overall dimensions of 8m x 3.3m have been worked with carving techniques. The raised elements are stained a reddish brown.
The altar painting relates the story of salvation. The onlooker can interpret this story while meditating on the basis of the “formless” abstract structure. Let there be light, life emerges, creation becomes visible… The redeeming cross in the center connects the Old and New Testaments. The onlooker can grasp the story of salvation in a creative way in this picture mural. With his fantasy he sees the act of creation, images from the Old and New Testament. Through this meditative interpretation and viewing, the onlooker is led to God.
