Hans Schabus
Born 1970 in Watschig, Austria. He lives and works in Vienna. He studied at the Akademie der bildenden Künste (Academy of Fine Arts) in Vienna. Since 2012, he has been teaching at the Universität für angewandte Kunst (University of Applied Arts) in Vienna, where he founded the Sculpture Institute and became the head of the Department of Sculpture and Space in 2014. His works have been shown in many venues, most recently at the Museum moderner Kunst (2017), and the 21er Haus (2012), both in Vienna. He also represented Austria at the Venice Biennale in 2009. His permanent installations in the public sphere include works in the prison in Korneuburg (2012) and the Chamber of Labor in Vienna (2012).
