Volkmar Klien
Born 1971 in Hollabrunn, Austria, Volkmar Klien lives and works in Vienna. He studied composition, experimental media, and philosophy. He was a researcher and taught at the London University of the Arts and the Royal College of Arts. He has also taught at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst (University of Music and Performing Arts) in Vienna in the field of electronic music and media. From 2009 to 2011, he was a researcher at the Austrian Institute of Artificial Intelligence. His multi-faceted artistic work focuses primarily on audio art – ranging from interactive installations and perceptual interventions, to instrumental and electronic music. He has created works on commission for the Volksoper Wien, the Ballett Frankfurt, and the ZKM Karlsruhe.
