Information

The Cor-Ten pre-rusted steel plates welded to one another of the sculpture "Block I K" simulate two solid blocks in the position of two legs as a quotation of contrapposto in traditional sculpture.

The thoroughfare (Salzamtgasse inKrems/Stein) is an unusual place for sculpture. It is a non-place unsuited to a pediment or any adornment. People or cars are neither remarkable nor distracting in the thoroughfare. The sculpture here alters the familiar setting. Height: 237cm. Shortly after the sculpture had been erected the mayor of Krems had already received a petition from local residents protesting. The mayor, the Galerie Stadtpark and other individuals interested in art campaigned without success for the sculpture to remain.
Location: Donau-Universität Krems/railroad crossing
