Information
A light sculpture was made for Seyring that is both a functional logo and a piece of sculpture in its own right. An oxidised steel plate has 'Kulturzentrum Seyring' on it in perforated lettering. Blue neon glows through the perforation.
Helmut Rainer designed a light sculpture for the cultural center at the Seyring castle. This sculpture is both a sign of recognition and a piece in its own right. It fragmentarily takes up the shape of a historical portal that no longer exists. The archway once spanned the street at the castle but it had to be removed since it no longer fit the size of the vehicles driving through it. An oxidized steel plate curved at the top end as a shape of quadrant was perforated with the words “Kulturzentrum Seyring” and mounted on the wall of the building facing the street. Three blue fluorescent tubes, one in the upper curve, two mounted on the rear side, illuminate the perforation, emanating as atmospheric reflection light over the sculpture and the architecture. The mixture of natural and artificially changing light results in an immaterial light sculpture that extends beyond its tangible bounds.
