Information

For his piece 'Pfeil' (Arrow) the artist selected an oak tree stump from a fallen tree. He cut a stalk-like object out of it that had originally been made for a position in the countryside on a hill, looking far over the ground sloping away.

This object was originally designed for a landscape in Gasteil, where it looked out from a hilltop over the countryside falling away into the distance. As material the artist used a decorative oak tree, which had grown in Lainzer Tiergarten in Vienna. The tree had been burrowed underneath by a stream and toppled over. It was subsequently selected for this sculpture as timber that had been entirely felled by the forces of Nature. The work has been carved whole from one single piece.
