Information
In order to give structure to the outside of the school as to refer to its function the artists had 100 vinestocks planted on a grass surface. A wooden sculpture composed of pieces of a historical wine press has been erected on the ege of the wine field. In 2013, the project was dismantled.
Two notions of sculpture are linked on a grass surface measuring 40 x 20 m. The central focus is a land-art piece consisting of 100 red wine vinestocks from various EU-viniculture schools. Thanks to the way they are planted individually each vine assumes autonomy and thus becomes a living, constantly changing sculpture. The intended arrangement of the vines shows a rhythmic sculpture or wine field from which a EU-cuvée red wine is cultivated. A wooden sculpture composed of pieces of a historical wine press has been erected on the edge of the wine field. The static character of the sculpture contrasts with the delicate, growing vine sculptures. The changed vertical arrangement of the wooden beams of the former wine press gives each of the former functional parts an autonomous role in the interplay with the total sculpture.
