Nikolaus Gansterer
Born in Klosterneuburg, Austria, Nikolaus Gansterer lives and works in Vienna. He studied at the Universität für angewandte Kunst (University of Applied Arts) in Vienna and the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. His works and performances have been shown in many exhibitions in Austria and abroad since 2000. In 2007, he began teaching at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 2009, he received the Kulturpreis für Bildende Kunst (Culture Award for Visual Art) of the State of Lower Austria. Gansterer is interested in how scientific approaches can be translated into an artistic environment. Through a consistent blending of methods and settings from both fields, he manages to create connections that question the borders between nature and culture as well as art and philosophy.
