An Art Space for Weikendorf
Back
Information
In 2007, Michael Kienzer transformed the former fire station in the center of this small town in Lower Austria into an exhibition space for contemporary art. Since then, two artists have been invited every year to create a project for the space that addresses the town and its environment. Each project is shown for several months at a time. Until 2013, Michael Kienzer was also responsible for selecting the artists.
In 2013, the art educators Gabriele Stöger and Bärbl Zechner established a jury consisting of residents of Weikendorf and its surroundings. Since that time, this jury has been choosing the artists from a list of nominees compiled by Public Art Lower Austria’s own jury. The Weikendorf jury’s very dedicated members, who are volunteers interested in art, are not only involved in the selection of artists; they are also involved in the realization and communication of the exhibitions.
The current jury team consists of: Ingrid Axmann, Robert Buchta, Kurt Felice, Robert Hanel, Johannes Hofer, Susanne Hirschböck, Brigitte Kasper Ager, Ulrike Kastan, Johannes Naimer, Jürgen Nemec, Katharina Neuner, Angelika Pozarek, Beate Thaller, Ernst Wagendristel, and Anneliese Windisch
